About hill stations: The term “Hill Station” was first coined in India. As the name suggests, hill station was used for towns situated on higher altitudes (about 2000 feet above sea level), like on a hill. Some hill stations go up as high as 7000 feet. More than half of all the hill stations in India were founded by the “British” Indian Army, so to speak. Before Independence, hill stations in India were primarily used as summer capitals to escape the summer heat. But now they serve as tourist places.
Why visit a hill station? Most people visit hill stations primarily to experience the pleasant climate, the stunning scenery and to relax or unwind from their daily routine.
